As a woman, I have period every month but is it normal to have pain when we have period? Hmmm it's depends.. if we still can handle it with the pain medication like ibuprofen or tylenol, it's OK or like my mom use to do, put the warm bottle water on my stomach :-) (It do the trick believe it or not)
But if the period is so painful and so heavy plus if it will last more than 7 days, that's not OK ... You should ask yourself.. does sex hurt? do you bleed randomly in the middle of your cycle? I write this blog because most women too ashamed to talk about their period to anybody (I read it in the Glamour magazine) So I encourage all women to start talking to your GYN doctor if you have pain in your period. Or if you have pain when you have sex. IT'S OK TO TALK ABOUT PERIOD !!
Because if you have that all problem, maybe you have endometriosis.
What is Endometriosis??
Endometriosis happen when tissue that normally found inside uterus, grows in the other parts of the body, like in the fallopian tube, ovary, bowel, bladder, external body, etc. And sometimes, The first symptoms of endometriosis is TROUBLE TO GET PREGNANT !!! (WebMD. (2014). Visual guide to Endometriosis. http://www.webmd.com/women/endometriosis/ss/slideshow-endometriosis-overview)
So what else is the symptom of Endometriosis?
(Glamour Magazine. (2014). Viscous Cycle)
So if you have that kind of symptoms, please go to your Gynecology and check. If they find out that you have endometriosis, your GYN will give you the treatment including anti inflammatory pain killers, hormonal medication, or incision/ laparoscopic surgery. Hormone treatment work to block or reduce estrogen production in the body. In laparoscopy, the surgeon may remove visible endometrial growths or adhesions. Most women have immediate pain relief and laparoscopic surgery can improve the pregnancy rate of women who have moderate to severe endometriosis. (WebMD. (2014).
